What the error means
KDP is telling you your inside margin (the side closest to the spine) is too small for your page count. When the book is bound, text can disappear into the gutter.
Fast fix in Canva (checklist)
- Open your Canva design and go to File → View settings. Turn on Show margins.
- Increase the inside margin (move text away from the spine). If you’re using mirrored pages, make sure left/right swap correctly.
- Re‑export as PDF Print.
If you don’t know the correct inside margin for your trim size + page count, that’s exactly what the paid guides provide (tables you can copy/paste from).
How to prevent it next time
- Decide bleed vs no‑bleed first (it affects size and safe area).
- Pick trim size and estimate your final page count early.
- Use a gutter table (inside margin increases as page count grows).
